Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast (or 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1 egg (at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3¼ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a measuring cup, mix yeast and water, and let sit for about 5 minutes or until it activates.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Mix until combined. When the yeast water mixture has activated, pour it into the flour/salt mixture. Add in the egg and avocado oil. Mix with a fork until you have a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead the Dough: Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes or until smooth.
  4. First Rise: Put the dough in an oiled bowl and let rise until doubled in size. This can take an hour or two depending on the temperature of your home.
  5. Shape the Rolls: When the dough has doubled in size, gently punch down the dough with your fist and put it onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Gently shape into balls and place in a lightly oiled or parchment-lined pan.
  6. Second Rise: Cover with a clean damp kitchen towel and let rise for 30 minutes-1 hour or until fluffy and almost doubled in size.
  7. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes until the tops are lightly golden brown.
  8. Serve: Brush them with melted butter and enjoy!
