These Easy and Edible Easter Nest Eggs are the perfect no-fuss treat for spring! I love how simple they are to make. And how adorable they look
Ingredients
For the BUTTERSCOTCH NESTS:
- 1 cup butterscotch chips
- ¾ cup crushed shredded wheat cereal
- ¾ cup sliced almonds
For the PRETZEL NESTS:
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 2 ½ cups mini pretzel sticks, broken in half
For the CEREAL NESTS:
- 1 cup white or milk chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cups crispy rice cereal
For the COCONUT NESTS:
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cups toasted coconut flakes
Instructions
1. Prepare the Muffin Pan:
Line a 6-cup muffin pan with plastic wrap. This will make it easy to remove the nests later.
2. Melt the Baking Chips:
Place 1 cup of your chosen baking chips (dark, milk or white chocolate, or butterscotch) in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave the chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until they are completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chips.
3. Stir in Dry Ingredients:
Stir in your chosen dry ingredients (crushed shredded wheat and almonds for butterscotch; broken pretzel sticks for dark chocolate; crispy rice cereal for white/milk chocolate; toasted coconut for white chocolate).
Stir until the dry ingredients are well coated with the melted chips.
4. Form the Nests:
Scoop the mixture into the plastic wrap-lined muffin cups.
Make an indentation in the center of each mixture to form a nest shape. You can use your fingers or the back of a spoon.
5. Chill and Set:
Refrigerate the nests until set, about 10 minutes.
6. Remove and Fill:
Carefully remove the nests from the muffin pan by lifting the plastic wrap.
Fill the nests with blue jelly beans, chocolate eggs, or other small Easter candies.
7. Serve and Enjoy! Serve and enjoy these adorable, and tasty, treats.
